School Bans Parents From Throwing Kids Over Locked Gate When They’re Late

It’s a bird… it’s a plane… it’s… a little kid with a lunchbox?

File this one under “parents of the year.” An elementary school in France tried to keep tardy parents in line by locking their gates at 8:30 a.m. So, what did some of these parents do? Well, allegedly, they responded by hurling their kids over the six-foot fence.

You thought I was gonna say the parents learned their lesson and started coming earlier, right? Well, that wouldn't make for a very good story now, would it?

Things supposedly got so bad that the school had to put up signs that say “I do not throw my children over the gate!” along with illustrations of a big stick person throwing their little stick kid over a fence. We’re talking extremely straightforward reinforcement, here.

“It hasn’t happened that many times, but as little as it happened, we preferred to get ahead of it,” Trillade school principal Sanaa Meziane told local publication La Provence. She said it was only a matter of time before a child got hurt.

The signs, instead, instruct parents to return when the gates reopen at 10 a.m. or 3 p.m.
