Landmarks in Boston and across Massachusetts will be lit purple Thursday in recognition of World Pancreatic Cancer Day.

The World Pancreatic Cancer Coalition and Ipsen Biopharmaceuticals have partnered to light up the Prudential Tower, Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Memorial Bridge, Longfellow Bridge, One International Place, One Financial Center and Boston City Hall in recognition of World Pancreatic Cancer Day. Other Massachusetts landmarks, including the Fore River Bridge in Quincy and the Kenneth F. Burns Memorial Bridge in Worcester will also be participating.

Pancreatic cancer has less than a 10% five-year survival rate, according to the World Pancreatic Cancer Coalition. The coalition consists of more than 95 organizations from over 35 countries and six continents.
