Just when you thought it was safe to go into your own back yard.
A Massachusetts man got quite a scare while doing yard work this past weekend, when he uncovered a live explosive.
Westborough Police, along with the Westborough Fire Department, responded to a home on Hyder St. to recover what police say appeared to be a mortar round. The Massachusetts State Police Bomb Unit responded to the scene and removed the round from the residence, subsequently detonating it off site.
No details as to the origin of the explosive have been shared.
