New Kids On The Block Announce Rescheduled Fenway Park Concert

New Kids on The Block just announced that their concert at Fenway Park with Bel Biv DeVoe will now be on Friday, August 6, 2021.

The show, which was originally set to take place in 2020, was delayed when the world began to take preventative measures in response to the global coronavirus pandemic. “After months of uncertainty and careful consideration, Red Sox and New Kids on the Block are finally able to bring Boston THE can’t miss event of the summer!” NKOTB said, in a statement.

The news comes one day after MA Gov. Charlie Baker and Boston’s Acting Mayor Kim Janey announced plans to remove COVID-19-related restrictions.

All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new date. Starting with NKOTB pre-sales on Wednesday May 19th, a limited amount of new seats have been made available for any fans who were not able to purchase tickets last year. Tickets go on-sale to the general public on Friday, May 21st at 10 a.m. ET at livenation.com

“It’s been a challenging year for so many,” Donnie Wahlberg said, in a statement. “We can’t think of a better way to get back to doing what we love most — than being with our fans, and hitting the stage, in the most sacred of venues. It will be an emotional night and we plan to give our fans a celebration unlike anything our city has seen.”

NKOTB, Live Nation and the Boston Red Sox will distribute a number of tickets to local healthcare workers and first responders who were heroes throughout the pandemic.

This show will be NKOTB’s first main live event since their record-breaking MIXTAPE Tour, the highest grossing tour of their storied careers. NKOTB will take to the historic Fenway Park for a special one night only homecoming marking the only show for NKOTB for the 2021 calendar year. Known for delivering Blockheads with one-night-only experiences and legendary collaborative events, NKOTB promises to play fan favorite hits like "Hangin Tough," "I'll Be Loving You (Forever)," and "Step By Step" and will bring along special guests Bel Biv Devoe with many more surprises promised along the way. The group previously performed at the world-famous ballpark for the first time, when they visited the Green Monster on their acclaimed NKOTBSB Tour alongside the Backstreet Boys. NKOTB returned for a second time on the Package Tour with Paula Abdul and Boyz II Men. Their return, now set for Friday, August 6th, marks their third time taking to the legendary field. Getting the chance to play Fenway is always a dream for the five Boston natives and an honor shared with the likes of Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel.

New Kids on the Block have sold more than 80 million albums worldwide -- including back-to-back international #1 songs, 1988’s Hangin’ Tough and 1990’s Step By Step -- and a series of crossover smash R&B, pop hits like “You Got It (The Right Stuff),” “Cover Girl,” “Didn’t I (Blow Your Mind This Time),” “Hangin’ Tough,” “I’ll Be Loving You,” “Step By Step” and “Tonight.” The group which started with humble Boston beginnings grew to shatter concert box office records playing an estimated 200 concerts a year, in sold out stadiums throughout the world. Since reuniting in 2007, NKOTB have toured consistently to sold out arenas, have sold nearly 4 million tickets and have doubled their crowd sizes. The Boston natives have been bestowed with their very own, “New Kids on the Block Day,” an honor not many can claim, and have played Fenway twice before. The group solidified their place in Hollywood with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame since reuniting and will continue representing Boston on their journey long into the future.
