The MET Gala is back!

On Monday (September 13), Hollywood's brightest stars returned to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City for the glamorous event after a two-year hiatus. Billie Eilish, Timothée Chalamet, Amanda Gorman, and Naomi Osaka are serving as co-chairs for this "more intimate" version of the gala, while the theme is 'In America: A Lexicon of Fashion.' Though the event will be slightly smaller than in previous years, the fashion is better and bolder than ever.

Chalamet sparked conversation online over his ensemble, which consisted of sweatpants and converse sneakers. He paired his white sweats and sneakers with a matching white jacket. While chatting with Vogue live stream host Keke Palmer, the Call Me By Your Name actor said he wanted to have a “little bit of everything" in his first MET Gala ensemble. Chalamet also cited Rick Owens and Chuck Taylor as his sartorial inspiration for the evening.

When Vogue first announced Chalamet as one of the four co-chairs for the gala, the iconic fashion outlet raved about the actor's ability to seamlessly blend streetwear with high fashion. "Chalamet has become the most influential man in fashion," Vogue wrote at the time. "His unexpected mix of streetwear, lack of a stylist, and embrace of avant-garde labels sets him apart from his peers.

It was a practical choice for Chalamet to wear sneakers, as he opted to walk to the MET. The 25-year-old actor documented his walk to the museum on Instagram Live. As he made his way down the streets of New York City, Chalamet was bombarded by fans waiting outside the event for a glimpse of all the red carpet arrivals.

Fans can next glimpse Chalamet on the big screen when his highly anticipated film adaptation of Dune arrives in theaters on October 22.
