SALEM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Far From The Tree Cider had blockbuster sales last weekend after a movie-inspired hard cider hit the shelves.

Inspired by the movie “Hocus Pocus,” which was filmed locally, Far From The Tree released a four-pack of new ciders. Each Pocus cider is named and flavored after one of the three witches and the cat from the movie.

To celebrate the new release, they hosted an event at their tap room in Salem. Despite making more of the product than they thought was necessary, cider lovers wiped out the entire supply within a couple of hours.

“We made a lot more than we thought we were going to have to make,” said Founder Al Snape. “It was kind of a risk and then we sold out within two hours, so that was a bit of a surprise.”

Finance Manager Sarah, who came up with the idea, was surprised at the attention the new ciders received.

“We did have a person who flew out here specifically for the release from out of state,” said Sarah. “People travel from all over to get this, so it was really shocking. It’s exciting but shocking.”

To meet the nationwide demand for the Pocus hard ciders, Far From The Tree held a presale on Oct. 19 that also sold out quickly. Online orders will be shipped on Friday, Oct. 13.

Far From The Tree said they will be bringing the Pocus ciders back next year.
