BOSTON (WBZNewsRadio) - The weekend is here and so is another round of rain, but the good news it won't stick around. Most of the rain is expected later Friday afternoon, with a little bit of the wet weather extending into the early part of Saturday. The sun may try and make an appearance Saturday afternoon as the skies gradually clear into Sunday.

Sunday will be the pick of the weekend with an expected high around 70 in the afternoon. There are a number of events happening across the state this weekend from the Huldufólk in Newton to opening weekend at the Topsfield Fair, and the long awaited opening of the Friends themed café in Boston.

SATURDAY

Accessible/Adaptive Cycling on The Cochituate Rail Trail (Rain Date: October 1)

Have mobility concerns but want to get moving? Look no further than Natick this weekend, as the community hosts an accessible cycling event on the Cochituate Rail Trail. The event will give attendees the chance to experience different cycling on a variety of different cycles. You'll need to reserve a space but there's absolutely no cost.

Huldufólk: An Icelandic Fairy Walk and Celebration

Step into the magical world of Icelandic Fairies this weekend at the Scandinavian Cultural Center in Newton. They're holding their annual celebration of magical hidden folk. The family friendly event will offer a number of Icelandic-inspired activities, traditional music, food and much more. By the way, if you'd really like to escape into a Scandinavian dreamland, there will be mobile saunas available for use for $65 for an hour session.

Annual Robot Block Party

For a 6th year, the robots will describe upon the Seaport Common for the largest celebration of robotics in the country. More than 50 companies and universities will showcase their robotics through out the day through a number of STEM related events for the whole family.

Sailing for Maui

Sail Newport along with the organizers behind the annual Sail For Hope announce this year's event will raise funds for the victims of the Maui wildfires earlier this year. They'll be collecting donations at the event, as well as donating profits from race entry fees, social tickets, bar and merchandise sales to the Maui Food Bank.

"The need is immense in Maui, and because we have the opportunity to help relieve some of the human suffering, we're going to do all we can to raise emergency funding for food, from one island community to another," says Brad Read, executive director, Sail Newport.

Central Square Dumpling Festival

Get ready to indulge! The annual Central Square Dumpling Festival returns this Saturday bringing delicious eats to Cambridge. With more than 30 vendors offering up the best of the best, you'll want to bring your appetite and line your purse with plastic.

Brews & Bites Food Truck Festival at Westgate Mall

The food trucks are going shopping, well okay not really, but they'll be at the Westgate mall in Brockton Saturday to feed hungry shoppers. Aside from the eats, there will be live music and for mom & dad, beer and sangria for sale.

East Bridgewater ChiliChowda Fest (Rain date: Sunday, Oct. 1 or Saturday, Oct. 7)

The smell of chili, chowder and the sounds of motorcycles revving their engines will come to East Bridgewater this weekend for the annual ChiliChowda Festival. Thousands are expected to attend for the amazing food and awesome vibes.

Cape Cod Doxie Day & Costume Parade

Dachsunds, wiener dogs, sausage dogs and doxies... whatever you call them, the small adorable hotdog shaped pups will be front and center this weekend at the annual Doxie Day event in Barnstable Village. Dog lovers from near and far come to the festival for all things "hot dog."

Oktoberfest at Patriot Place

Leave the Pats gear at home and opt for lederhosen instead for this year's Oktoberfest at Patriot Place. German traditions including Oktoberfest-spirited games, music, beer and delicious food will be offered.

“Our first Oktoberfest Celebration last year was an exciting event, gathering friends and family together to enjoy an afternoon full of games, live music, arts and crafts, giveaways and more,” said Brian Earley, Vice President and General Manager of Patriot Place. “We’re thrilled to host this global celebration of German culture for the second time on Saturday, Sept. 30 and look forward to enjoying more unforgettable moments with our guests.”

Hotdog Eating Contest At Topsfield Fair

Move over July 4th, there's a new hotdog eating contest in town and it just so happens to take place this Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at the Topsfield fair. Fair-goers will get the chance to eat as many hotdogs as they can in 7 minutes. The current record is 10 1/4-pound hotdogs in 7 minutes, and yes, that includes the bun.

The winner will get $205 from the B'nae B'rith Booth and of course recognition!

Costume Pawty At Tempo

It'll be quite the party at Tempo on Moody Street this Saturday, as the eatery hosts a Costume Pawty On the Patio for mans best friend. Whether you're opting for a HOWL-a-ween themed costume or perhaps something more FURocious, you won't want to miss this one. Tempo will be serving up specialty themed cocktails. What's more Tito's vodka will be matching all donations up to $1000.

The Incredible Naumkaeg Pumpkin Show

The pumpkins are back and ready to be carved into more than 1,500 jack-o-lanterns for the Incredible Naumkaeg Pumpkin show. Along with the pumpkins, hundred of mums and gourds grown at Naumkaeg will be on display. Timed tickets are requested.

Grab a coffee at Central Perk: Friend's Themed Coffee Shop

Channel your inner Monica, Pheobe, or Joey at "Central Perk," the Friends inspired coffee shop, resembling the iconic backdrop for many of the sitcom's episodes. Menu items are expected to pay tribute to the show, including Princess Consuela’s Banana Mocha blend and Chandler’s Chocolate Milk Cold Foam.

Freeplay Family Day

Leave the quarters at home this Sunday and head to Worcester's Free Play bar for a family day. Now it's not free per se, but admission is just $10 bucks and includes all games played as many times as Mom & Dad will let you.

World Farm Animal Day at Franklin Park Zoo

Franklin Park Zoo is promising an "a-moo-sing" time at the Zoo this Saturday for World Farm Animal Day. If you haven't checked out the Barnyard exhibit at the Zoo, you'll want to bring the little ones for a great time with the horses, donkeys, cows, chickens, goats and sheep. There will be a number of special events happening across the Zoo through out the day.

Harpoon Dogtoberfest
