Doja Cat had the internet up in arms over her shower-inspired look ahead of the 2024 Met Gala. As some fans speculated, she showed up at the Museum of Metropolitan Art Monday night (May 6) in a similar yet different look. The theme of this year's event is "Garden of Time," inspired by a 1962 short story by J.G. Ballard.
The "Say So" rapper walked onto the green and white carpet in a wet T-shirt-like dress sticking to her skin and showing off her contours. Doja also made sure to keep her chest covered as fashion insider Beka Gvishiani stuck by her side.
The duo was spotted at The Mark Hotel ahead of the star-studded event, except the hip-hop star surprised photographers by only wearing a bath towel, beautiful jewelry, and clear heels. The internet was divided over her potential gala outfit, with some saying she's once again breaking boundaries while others called it "lame" and "boring."
Some fans believed she was hiding her true outfit underneath the towel, but Doja ended up wearing something akin to her shower-inspired garb. She also kept the dark makeup running down her face.
Once again, social media users had mixed emotions about the "Paint The Town Red" rapper's final look. Many users accused Doja of not sticking to the theme of the Met Gala, while die-hard fans defended her creative decision. One user on X believes she was imitating ancient garden statues where women had robes draping off their bodies.
"Doja Cat giving garden statue realness on the stairs of the Met Gala," X user PLAN3T BRUNO wrote.
