Sometimes, Siri just doesn't get it — even if you're Celine Dion.
On her Instagram, Dion shared a video of herself asking Apple's AI assistant to play her 2024 version of “Hymne à L'amour," originally by Edith Piaf. Only, Siri had a little trouble accommodating her request. Attempting to play the song the first time, Celine asked, "Hey Siri, play 'Hymne à l'amour’ by Celine Dion?'" To which Siri replied, "I cannot find that track by Celine Dion, but here is 'My Heart Will Go On.'"
Close, but no cigar. So, Celine tried a second time, and asked Siri the same request, this time adding "please" at the end. But, still, Siri did not oblige, and responded again with the Titanic song, "I cannot find that track by Celine Dion, but here is 'My Heart Will Go On.'" Laughing, Dion told Siri, "Never mind!"
But, she was determined, and as she captioned her video, "Third time's the charm." Because she decided to ask Siri to play the song in a French Parisian accent, hoping it would make a difference — and it did! Finally, "Hymne à L'amour" played as Siri, at last, said, "Okay, here is 'Hymne à l'amour' by Celine Dion."
Shocked, Celine held her phone with a look of surprise across her face, and then gave the thumbs up.
Moral of the story, if you're trying to ask Siri to do or play anything in a French-Canadian accent, it seems she only understands French-Parisian. See Celine Dion's hilarious Siri exchange below.
