BEDFORD, N.H. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Massachusetts-based comedian Eugene Mirman, 51, was identified as the injured driver saved from the fiery crash at a New Hampshire toll booth earlier this week.

Mirman, best known for his role voicing a character from “Bob’s Burger’s,” was pulled out of his car by Gov. Kelly Ayotte’s security detail after he crashed at the Bedford Toll Plaza on the Everett Turnpike on Tuesday.

In a statement, Mirman’s spokesperson said he is “grateful to be on the mend” and thanked the “bystanders, state police, first responders and hospital staff who saved him.”

Pictures of the crash posted by the New Hampshire State Police showed that the car was engulfed in flames. Officials said Gov. Ayotte and her security team passed by the accident and saw the vehicle actively on fire with Mirman still inside.

They were able to pull him out through a window to safety, who was later transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
