BOSTON (WBZ News Radio) – Former President Joe Biden made a surprise appearance in Boston Tuesday morning to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. He appeared at the Irish American Partnership’s 31st Annual St. Patrick’s Day Breakfast Celebration held at the InterContinental.
President Biden gave the remarks for the crowd of 480 people at the event. The Irish-Catholic president is known for his pride in his Irish Heritage. The event celebrated 40 years of the Irish American Partnership, which is a way for Irish-Americans can give back to Ireland by supporting education funds.
President Biden said of his proud heritage.
"On this St. Patrick's Day, we honor where we came from. Let us not forget and romanticize the visions of the past. Instead, let us remember what's possible, and recommit ourselves to the unified work that lies ahead," said President Biden.
Keynote speakers like the former President and Massachusetts Governor Healey were important to the message of the Irish American Partnership.
“As we celebrate our 40th year, his presence was a powerful reminder of the pride so many Irish Americans feel in their heritage and of the extraordinary bonds that continue to connect Ireland and America,” said Mary Sugrue, President & CEO of the Irish American Partnership.
The group has raised $63 Million in its 40 year history to help the next generation of Irish leaders.
