Longer Days On The Horizon As The Sun Sets Later And Later

REVERE Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Getting home in the dark will soon be next year's worry.

On Monday Feb. 5, the sun set at 5:02 p.m. marking the latest sunset of the new year. It was just the third instance in 2024 where Boston saw sunlight past 5:00 p.m.

Boston's winter has been relatively mild. This season has yet to produce a storm blanketing the city in more than just a few inches of snow.

Nonetheless, the cold is reason enough to yearn for warmer temperatures for some locals, and for them, a later sunset is a sign that spring is just around the corner.

WBZ's James Rojas talked to some Revere residents who welcomed the change.

"I like the longer days," said one woman. "I mean I'd rather have daylight when I'm getting out of work instead of [it] being so dark."
