BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — At around eight o'clock Thursday morning, members of the progressive Jewish group "IfNotNow" began gathering to shut down vehicle traffic on the BU Bridge, demanding Senator Elizabeth Warren call for a ceasefire in the Middle East.
Protestors could be seen holding signs reading 'Free the Hostages,' and 'Let Gaza Live' high above their heads, with a banner: "Jews say: Ceasefire Now."
"Even though 80% of Democratic voters support a ceasefire, Elizabeth Warren still has not called for a ceasefire to stop Israel's massacre, invasion, and siege in Gaza. With this action, Boston Jews will join a nationwide movement of other Jews supporting a ceasefire from Oakland, CA to Chicago, IL to New York, NY to rabbis in Washington, D.C.," the IfNotNow movement said in a statement.
A runner who was kept from crossing the bridge told WBZ's James Rojas that the sight of protestors broke his heart.
"We should all stand and feel extremely sad for any innocent civilian life being taken— and that also includes the Palestinians. We care about the Palestinian's lives, we only want to kill Hamas. One of the reasons why so many innocent lives are being lost is because Hamas is hiding in their homes," he said.

Boston Police said the BU Bridge was shut down to traffic, urging commuters to seek an alternative route.
