SALEM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — TripAdvisor has once again ranked a tourism staple in Salem, Mass. as the best cultural and historic experience in the U.S. and the 11th best in the world.
For a fourth year in a row, the History and Hauntings of Salem Guided Walking Tour earned the top spot thanks to a 4.9 rating and nearly 15,000 reviews. TripAdvisor also ranked the tour as the 5th top experience in the U.S.
Residents who live or work in the city think the latest ranking could drive tourism numbers even higher.

"I don't mind it at all. It's good for the city. It's good for the state and everything," Matt of Marshfield said. "There's a lot of people to deal with and everything, but overall, I think it's a great thing."
When giving advice for visitors, Matt said to "plan extra time" because traffic can get bad during the height of tourism season, which is in October.
Gilbert, another resident, said summer "is the best time to come."
