Watch Boston Dynamics’ Spot Dance To BTS As Jimmy Fallon’s 1st Robot Guest

This Boston “dog” knows how to work a crowd!

Boston Dynamics’ mechanical dog Spot became the first-ever robot guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Tuesday, before breaking out the dance moves to a BTS hit.

Spot was escorted by Boston Dynamics CEO Robert Playter, who told Fallon about Spot’s “day job.”

“We wanted to build a robot that could go anywhere a person could go – and you can’t beat legs – so we built Spot,” Playter told Fallon. “It’s an inspector. Spot goes into dangerous places where people don’t want to go – nuclear power plants, electric utilities – and does inspections, making sure that the equipment is running well.”

Fallon was clearly impressed, describing Spot as simply “unbelievable.” However, Spot’s visit wasn’t all business. The robot was able to get the crowd laughing with some well-timed tricks. At one point - in what may have been the most Boston thing ever - Spot even poured Fallon a Samuel Adams beer.

Fallon was able to pilot Spot firsthand, sending it into the crowd before sitting down on the Tonight Show stage for a brief yes/no question and answer session.

Spot’s visit ended with a group of three additional Spot robots performing a choreographed dance to BTS’ “IONIQ: I’M On It.”

Fallon closed the segment by telling Playter “I’ve seen everything now!”
