Home safety review site Safe Home released a new study on Tuesday that ranks the 25 safest cities in Massachusetts. Rankings were based on factors such as FBI data on annual crimes, as well as local law enforcement statistics, such as the number of law enforcement officers compared to the population.
Coming in at #1, as Massachusetts' safest city, was Newton. Here were the key metrics that earned that city the top spot:
- Population: 89,053
- Violent Crimes: 74
- Property Crimes: 738
- Citizen-to-Officer Ratio: 494
- Violent Crime Trend: +23.1%
- Property Crime Trend: -1.8%
