Kelly Clarkson is remaining a strong presence for her children following the death of her ex-husband and their father Brandon Blackstock.
A source recently told People that the "Breakaway" singer is prioritizing her children, daughter River, 11, and son Remington, 9, and making her focus "to be present for her kids" months after Blackstock's passing. The talent manager passed away in August 2025 at the age of 48 after a three-year private battle with cancer.
"Kelly is obviously heartbroken for her kids. Losing their dad is incredibly painful and confusing," they said. "But she's also very grounded. She's not someone who falls apart. She looks at life realistically and does everything she can to make things as steady and loving as possible for her kids."
A representative for the family confirmed August 7 that Blackstock had passed away following his hidden health battle.
"It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away," the rep said in a statement. "Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during this very difficult time."
A source at the time told People that Clarkson was "staying strong" for her kids amid the devastating loss of their father.
"Kelly and Brandon had their ups and downs, but at the end of the day, he was the father of her children and she is absolutely heartbroken for them," the insider said. "Her kids are her entire world, and she's staying strong for their sake."
